Sauna
Finland is a nation with 2.6million saunas for 5.6million people. Sauna is both for ordinary days and special occasions, be it warming up after outdoor activities, gathering together with friends or celebrating midsummer. Saturday is the traditional sauna-day, so much so, that the Finnish word Saturday: Lauantai originally refers to bathing day.
We want to offer you the chance to have this very Finnish experience, and to relax your mind and muscles after the exciting day at the conference.
More precise details and location of the sauna will be published later as the amount of attendees will affect the arrangements.
The saunas are mixed all genders and require wearing a swimming gown (please bring your own). Locker rooms are separate for men and women, and booking is based on locker room choice and capacity.
Sauna is not included in the conference fee. Additional fee of 18 euros, registration to the sauna programme can be added while registering to the conference.
Walking tour
Explore Tampere city and its history, and enjoy fresh outdoor air during a walking tour. The tours are guided in English. There are two tour options:
The industrial past of Tampere
The industrial past of Tampere tours the old industrial sites that were build along the shores of Tammerkoski rapids, where old and new collide in the heart of Tampere.
World’s only Pispala:
The esker of Pispala, situated between the two lakes of Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi offers pretty sights to the lakes and a different view to the industrial history of Tampere. Many a factory worker moved here when Tampere grew, and the area developed without unified plans, resulting to milieu of its own kind. The tour location is approximately 20-30 minute buss ride from the conference venue. (Moving around the esker of Pispala requires climbing long stairs and walking uphill/downhill. This tour is not recommended if one experiences issues with those.)
Each tour is 1.5hours long.
Walking tour is not included in the conference fee. Additional fee of 12 euros, registration to a walking tour can be added while registering to the conference.
